Sir Barry Bowen

Founder

Barry, a proud seventh generation Belizean, was driven by growth and creation, not wealth. He was a visionary entrepreneur who founded Belize Brewing Company and other local businesses. His legacy includes environmental contributions to the Rio Bravo Conservation and philanthropy supporting education and infrastructure in Belize.

Known for his boundless energy and hands-on approach, Sir Barry was a true industry leader who understood every machine in his plant. Despite losing three fingers in a machine accident, he never shied away from hard work. He was honored as a Knight by Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to Belize, emphasizing that Belikin’s success is rooted in the country and its people.

Today, Sir Barry’s family carries on his legacy of brewing excellence and community support in Belize.

Michael Bowen

President / CEO

Michael, an eighth-generation Belizean who dove into the family business in 2000. From bottling Crystal Water to tending shrimp at Belize aquaculture, he did it all.

Reflecting on his early days, Michael recalls being thrown into the mix at Crystal Bottling without much handholding. However, with determination and eagerness to learn, he mastered every aspect of the operation with the help of supportive colleagues.

Fast forward to 2010, tragedy struck as Sir Barry Bowen passed away. Stepping up to lead, Michael revitalized Belize Brewing with a fresh perspective. Today, we offer a range of quality beers tailored to meet our customers’ tastes.

Driven by his passion and vision, Michael has elevated Belize Brewing to new heights. With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, we continue to honour our Belizean roots while striving for excellence in every pint.
